The crickets are chirping and the night is quieting down. Most of us probably haven’t gotten sound sleep since staging (two nights ago now, I think). Pages are rustling, fingers are typing, and right outside the door, a local cat is crying.
The kitty is stuck in a tree which somehow seems to appropriately bring our first day in Thies (pronounced like Chess or tchess) to a close. The cat can get down, it’s just scared and it’s a rather long drop. But if he just goes for it, she’ll probably land on her feet (not sure if she’s a he or she). In a way, we’re probably feeling a bit like being up in a tree worried to get down, when we know all we have to do is jump.
Welcome to Gambia, I think. Billie
